Social and Societal Responsibility

Taking responsibility for society is part of our corporate culture and our core values. Our commitment involves all areas of the company and all employees. Working together on activities for the common good unites and motivates us.

We support various projects, initiatives and associations in the cultural, social and sports sectors.

Employees and environment

Velomax follows the sustainability principles of apleona, takes responsibility for all employees and strives for fair dealings with partners and suppliers.

This includes:

  • Consideration of accessibility, gender equality and diversity
  • Health offers for employees
  • Compliance with minimum wage laws, construction site inspections, close supplier management
  • Payment of social security contributions, no bogus self-employment

Working groups and charitable initiatives

Velomax is involved in various sustainable initiatives and working groups. We present them below:

Taking a Firm Stand Against Right-Wing Extremism

Diversity, not narrow-mindedness! Berlin’s events industry is actively fighting against right-wing extremism. Our joint campaign, led by the Berlin Music Commission’s Events Industry Working Group, is firmly committed to diversity, a multicultural society, and strengthening democracy. We stand for artistic excellence and fundamental liberal democratic values, and we take a firm stand against racism, anti-Semitism, religious intolerance, sexism, and homophobia.

Together, we are sending a strong message in defense of democracy and the preservation of its fundamental principles.

Sustainability Working Group

Velomax is a co-founder of the Berlin Music Commission’s Sustainability Working Group, a forum comprising representatives from the business, event, and education sectors. This working group offers advice and recommendations on sustainability for all music professionals in Berlin and is aimed at professionals in the music industry who are willing to actively promote the implementation of sustainable practices in their day-to-day business.

Educational Work

Since 2022, we have been collaborating with the Berlin University of Applied Sciences (BHT) and offer guided tours once or twice a year for students in their first through third semesters who are studying event technology or event management. Participation is voluntary, and these tours are always very well attended. They provide insights into our day-to-day work and our sustainability initiatives.

Since 2023, we have been involved with Berliner Schulpate gGmbH, an organization that introduces elementary school students to different careers. Through the “Abenteuer Beruf” program, students in grades 4 through 6 gain hands-on insights into various professions. We support this by inviting fifth- and sixth-graders to the Max-Schmeling-Halle. There, we show them the wide variety of professions involved in running the arena. This is a first step toward career exploration and an investment in future skilled workers.

Participation

Since 2024, we have been partnering with Berliner Aidshilfe e.V. to enable seriously ill people to attend our events. Our collaboration with the “Kulturkartenservice” is intended to bring joy to those affected and improve their quality of life. We are pleased to be able to contribute to supporting these people.

Take a Stand

Velomax supports the European awareness campaign “Take A Stand,” which was launched in 2016 by the festival association Yourope. The initiative’s goal is to promote a culture of solidarity and tolerance—particularly at festivals and concerts—and thereby establish it throughout society in the long term. “Take A Stand” aims to set an example and promote inclusion and dialogue while combating fear and exclusion. The “Take A Stand” initiative is not just for music lovers—it’s for everyone!

Viva con Agua

We support Viva con Agua de Sankt Pauli e.V. at sporting events and concertshttps://www.vivaconagua.org/. Here, visitors can easily do a good deed by donating their returnable cups instead of returning them themselves. The goals of this international, nonprofit organization are to improve drinking water supplies, ensure access to clean drinking water for everyone, and raise awareness among all people about the global issue of water.

It’s easy to spot Viva con Agua supporters: they carry a deposit bin with a Viva con Agua flag.

atmosfair

We support the climate protection organization atmosfair, which, among other things, aims to offset greenhouse gas emissions through renewable energy. Velomax offsets its CO₂ emissions through atmosfair. This, among other things, helps support farming families in Nepal.

Music Declares Emergency

Music Declares Emergency is a community of artists, organizations, and music industry professionals who, in order to protect our planet and as part of the climate movement, raise awareness about the climate emergency and call for immediate action. Velomax is one of the signatories.

We believe in the power of music to drive change and make a livable future possible for all of us.
